OG girls best Weir
NEW MANCHESTER — The Oak Glen girls soccer team defeated Weir High, 6-1, during its Fundraiser for the Wounded Warriors on Saturday.
Maggie Kovalcik scored twice and assisted once for the Golden Bears (6-1). Natalie Sevyrka, Brooklyn Watts, Brooklyn Loveland and Reese Enochs all scored once. Loveland recorded three assists, while Enochs had two. Kaylee Travis made two saves in goal.
For the Red Riders (3-5), Isabella Aperfine scored the lone goal, while Megan Cramer assisted. Alexis Vuillelr made 14 saves.
Oak Glen 10, Magnolia 1
NEW MANCHESTER — Dan Dwoskin scored four goals and led the Oak Glen boys soccer team to a 10-1 victory over Magnolia on Saturday.
Wyatt Wiley had two goals for the Golden Bears (4-1-2). Jeremy Adams, Parker Provenzano, Gage Bailey and Matt Wright scored one apiece. Lucas Harris led with three assists, while Adams had two. Bailey, Wiley, Nick Garmire and Andrew Snyder added one apiece. Jacob Clark made five save in goal.
Brooke 2, Spring Mills 2
WELLSBURG — For the second time this week, the Brooke boys soccer team played to a 2-2 tie, this time against Spring Mills on Saturday.
Josh Ferguson and Hunter Adams scored for the Bruins (4-2-2). Blaise Buchnelter and Tyler Mitchell recorded one assist each. Garret Bernardini made eight saves in goal.
Central 3, St. John’s 0
BELLAIRE — The Catholic Central volleyball team swept St. John’s Central, 25-7, 25-4, 25-6, during the Dig Pink Tournament on Saturday.
Sydney Bennington led the Crusaders with 36 points and six aces. Theresa Bahen had 13 points and three aces. Emma Borden tallied 10 points and three aces, while Adriana LeFever added nine points and three aces.
Steubenville 3, Edison 0
STEUBENVILLE — The Steubenville volleyball team swept Edison, 25-12, 25-10, 25-15, during the Franciscan University Dig Pink Tournament on Saturday.
Anna Taylor paced Big Red (7-2) with seven points, two aces, six kills, two blocks and six digs. Sydney Meyer tallied seven points, one ace, eight kills, four blocks and a dig. Sammie Cucarese recorded six points, two aces and 10 digs. Leah Ferguson added four points, one ace, two kills, nine assists and four digs.
PHIIPPI — The Oak Glen volleyball team finished second at the Philip Barbour Tournament on Saturday.
Oak Glen began the day by defeating Frankfort, 25-17, 25-9. It then took down East Fairmont, 25-13, 25-8, before splitting with Bridgeport, 24-26, 25-17. The Golden Bears defeated the host in semifinals, 24-26, 25-21, 25-21. In the finals, Bridgeport won, 25-18, 25-22.
Overall, Hannah Rogers tallied 43 points, 24 assists, 32 kills, and 25 digs. McKayla Goodlin had 16 points, 18 kills, 12 blocks and 25 digs. Hanna Tice recorded 13 points and 17 kills.
