Lady Barons lose at home

STEUBENVILLE – The Franciscan University of Steubenville women’s lacrosse team dropped a 16-5 decision to visiting Albion College Sunday.

Midfielder Lauren Noce and attacker Tracy McClelland combined for all five of the Baron goals.

“They are going to be our top scorers,” FUS head coach Maura Conant said.

Noce put the Barons on the scoreboard eight minutes into the first half with an unassisted goal, and scored another unassisted goal before the end of the half and scored one free position goal from a penalty in the second half.

It was her second hat trick of the young season and she is responsible for six of the nine Lady Baron goals on the year.

McClelland scored two unassisted goals. Her second goal, the first of the second half, was scored three minutes into the second half to make the score 11-4. Noce would score her third and final goal a minute and a half later to cut the Albion lead to six, but that is close as the Lady Barons would get.

“The team is coming together,” Conant said. “Now it’s about becoming more mature and making better decisions to keep possession of the ball.”

FUS (0-3) visits Wayensburg at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
