Bears down Dons
NEW MANCHESTER – The Oak Glen baseball team took advantage of nine walks by three Madonna pitchers and the four errors by the Blue Dons defense for a 7-2 victory Wednesday at the Field of Dreams.
Both teams had two hits.
Madonna took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but the Golden Bears plated five runs in the bottom of the third and never looked back in raising their record to 2-4 and stopping the Blue Dons’ winning streak at three.
Kyle Woodruff picked up the win. Bub Haddox had both Oak Glen hits, singles, and totaled three RBIs.
Luca Fuscardo doubles for Madonna with an RBI. Nick Mazur added a single.
Both teams play Friday. Oak Glen heads to John Marshall and Madonna entertains Bishop Donahue.

Red Knights whip Bishops
WEIRTON – The Weir High baseball team scored seven times in the bottom of the first inning and cruised to a 15-1 decision over Bishop Donahue Wednesday at Bowman Field.
Ryan Duke ripped a triple and collected three RBIs. Matt Cessna laced a solo home run in the third inning. Michael Curtis and Mitch Viakley each had two singles and an RBI.
Bishop Donahue’s two pitchers combined for nine walks and the defense made five errors.
Curtis, Jeremy Swartzmiller, Viakley, William Larch and Cessna each pitched an inning.
The Red Riders host Steubenville today.

Knights remain unbeaten
TORONTO – Andy Miller earned the mound win and Toronto pounded 21 hits in Wednesday’s 19-1 victory over St. John Central at the Knight Baseball Complex.
John Romey led the offense with two singles and a double. Nate Stewart added a double and triple and Austin Lucas, Brad Melville, Tyler Antinone, Chez Glenn and Blaze Glenn each collected a pair of singles.
The Red Knights (4-0) visit Steubenville Catholic Central today.

Huskies defeat Devils
CADIZ – Harrison Central pitcher Rashaen Mitcher gave up a single to the first batter he faced, St. Clairsville’s Malik Gummer, and then fanned five over the first four innings on Wedneday’s 10-0 five-inning victory.
Drew Horn and Ryan Rose each collected two singles and an RBI as the Huskies moved to 4-0. Kalub Mitchell added a single and two RBIs.
Harrison Central scored six times in the second inning and cruised from there.
The same teams meet today in St. Clairsville in a make-up from Monday.

Magnolia nips Brooke
NEW MARTINSVILLE – Chandler Sapp and Kyle Elliott held Brooke scoreless over the final four innings as Magnolia held on for a 4-3 home victory Wednesday.
The pair combined to strike out seven and walk two.
Magnolia held a 4-0 lead after two innings. Brooke scored three times in the top of the third inning, but that was it for both teams.
Mario Lombardi took the loss. He struck out six and walked four in the complete game. He also added a single and RBI.
David Hardisty totaled two singles and two RBIs, while Michael Kurcina delivered a double.
Brooke visits Toronto Friday.
