Bruins sweep Blue Dons

The Brooke tennis teams swept visiting Madonna on Friday, with the boys winning 6-1 and the girls 4-3.

Nick Conforti won the Blue Dons’ lone point with his 8-3 victory over Jackson Carey.

Bryce Kesling topped Dominic Clements and Brice Hickey beat Thomas Gianni by 8-1 scores. Ryan Mezan defeated Matt Conforti 8-6.

In doubles, Carey and Mezan downed Conforti and Conforti 8-3, Kesling and Hickey beat Clements and Gianni 8-0 and Chris Beaman and Austin Barnhart won by forfeit.

The Lady Bruins won three of the four singles matches as Lauren Shelton beat Ali Welch 8-5, Cassidy Bland defeated Elizabeth Conforti 8-3 and Angie Counselman topped Morgan Duerr 8-6.

Madonna’s Amy Davis netted an 8-1 decision over Kameron Miller.

In doubles, Davis and Welch beat Miller and Shelton 8-3 and Brooke’s Kylie Greathouse and Sydney Stewart blanked DeKota McCombs and Emily Elias 8-0.

In the best match of the day, Duerr and Conforti won a 7-5 tiebreaker for a 9-8 decision over Bland and Counselman.

Bears nip Linsly

CHESTER – The Oak Glen girls tennis team won two singles matches and two doubles matches for a 4-3 victory over visiting Linsly Friday at Mountaineer.

In the best match of the afternoon, Oak Glen’s Anna Crawford and Abbi Sayre defeated Emmy Weaver and Jasmine Shan 9-7.

The Golden Bears’ Lauren Pizzurro and Madison Hill topped Rosalie Haizlett and Skylar Page 8-2. Linsly’s Jackie McDermott and Ameka Ekamen beat Haley Spurlock and Madison Juszczak 8-1.

In singles, Sayre defeated Weaver and Juszczak beat Shan by 8-1 scores. Ekamen downed Crawford 8-1 and McDermott stopped Spurlock 8-4.

Oak Glen takes on Ravenswood and St. Clairsville today at Bethany College.
