Buckeye tops Harrison, 8-5

RAYLAND – The Buckeye Local baseball team defeated Harrison Central, 8-5, handing the Huskies their first loss of the season Wednesday.

Chase Hopkins picked up the win with a 10 strikeout performance for the Panthers (5-5). Austin Marshall closed the door in the seventh for the save. Marshall added a pair of triples and RBIs at the plate. Shane Duncan had a double and two RBIs with Jonathan Borkoski adding a pair of singles and driving in one run. Dominic Rose had two singles and Josh Soklowski stroked a triple.

Rashaen Mitchell, Nick Pelegreen, and Nick Staten each had two singles for the Huskies (9-1) with Pelegreen and Mitchell each driving in a run.

The teams meet again on Friday.

Edison edges St. Clairsville

RICHMOND – The Edison softball team slipped past St. Clairsville, 5-4, in a game called with two outs in the top of the sixth due to weather Wednesday.

Zoe Westfall earned the win, striking out four before the weather stoppage. Molly McCoy smacked a double, two singles, and drove in a run. Cassady Jarvis added a double and an RBI.

Edison (5-4) is at Wheeling Park today.

Redskins rout Red Devils

ST. CLAIRSVILLE – The Indian Creek baseball team rolled to a 15-3 victory over St. Clairsville Wednesday.

Alex Young picked up the win, striking out three, with Jimmy Bolyog pitching scoreless fourth and fifth innings. Zach Williams had two singles, a double and three RBIs for the Redskins. Sean Smith had two singles, a double and two RBIs with Bolyog and Cole Yeater each adding a single, double and driving in two. Justin Aceto had two singles and an RBI and Zach Crawford was credited with driving in a pair of runs. Indian Creek (6-3) welcomes St. Clairsville for a rematch on Friday.
