Edison downs Martins Ferry
RICHMOND – The Edison baseball team defeated Martins Ferry 7-2 Wednesday.
Nolan Marcus went the distance on the hill for the Wildcats, striking out seven. After surrendering two runs in the first Marcus and the Wildcats’ defense held the Purple Riders scoreless the rest of the way.
Dylan Glasure had a single and two RBIs with Alec Jones driving in a pair of runs as well. Marcus and Brian Straka each had a single and an RBI with Josh Pasek adding two singles and Dylan Jones a double. Austin Horan had a single.
Edison (9-2) hosts St. Clairsville Friday.

Bears topple Potters
EAST LIVERPOOL – Oak Glen doubled its pleasure on Wednesday against East Liverpool.
The Golden Bears baseball team won a suspended game from April 10, 13-3 in five innings, and then turned around to take a 12-3 decision over the Potters in another contest.
The Golden Bears (6-6) were led by Matt McLaughlin’s two singles and Trey Smith’s single, home run and four RBIs in the completed game.
Zac Porter added two singles, while Kyle Woodruff had a double.
Ryian Burson had a single and double for the Potters.
In the other game, Alex Shuman had two singles and Vince Haddox had two doubles and a single. Trey Smith and Zac Porter added two singles.
Oak Glen hosts Steubenville Central today.

Central slips past Magnolia
NEW MARTINSVILLE – The Steubenville Catholic Central softball team scored in the seventh to pull out a 1-0 win at Magnolia Wednesday.
Micca Mirabella drove in Kelsey Grandinetti with a single in the top half of the final frame to put the Crusaders up 1-0, and pitcher Megan Lloyd and the defense shut the door in the bottom half to secure the win.
Lloyd struck out seven over seven innings, and surrendered just two hits. Grandinetti and Tori Knight each had a pair of singles with Maddy Gulan adding a double. Ashlynne Daley and Sammi Giannamore joined Mirabella with a single each.
The Crusaders (13-2) head to Harrison Central today.

Toronto falls to Bishops
MCMECHEN – The Toronto softball team lost 4-0 at Bishop Donahue Wednesday.
The Red Knights were held to three hits by Bishops pitcher Andea Guzek who struck out five over seven innings to get the win. Katie Scott had a single, triple, and RBI for Bishop Donahue.
Cari Horne had a pair of singles for the Red Knights with Myranda Blanton one base hit.
Both teams are in action today with Toronto (7-4) at Conotton Valley and Bishop Donahue (12-9) at Shadyside.

Dons defeat Big Red
STEUBENVILLE – The Weirton Madonna boys tennis team defeated Steubenville Big Red, 6-1, Wednesday at Belleview Park.
In singles play, Nick Conforti stopped Michael Rosachi 8-1; Matt Confortis blanked Phil Stoutz 8-0. Dominic Clements beat Jorge Dominguez and Thomas Gianni defeated Brandon Llewellyn 8-2.
In doubles, Conforti and Conforti beat Llewellyn and Jorge Dominquez 8-0, Dominic Clements and Thomas Gianni defeated Rosachi and Stoutz 6-1.
