Geanangel strikes out 14 as Redskins beat Bellaire

WINTERSVILLE – The Indian Creek softball team rolled to a 6-0 victory over a 17-win Bellaire team Thursday.

Paige Geanangel sat down 14 Big Reds on strikes and gave up just four hits in the complete game shutout. Brey Mays had a pair of triples, a single and an RBI to lead the Redskins at the plate. Megan Markja, Abby Orr, Alexis Monroe and Mallorie Sullivan each drove in a run as well.

Indian Creek (14-3) travels to Carrollton Monday.

Wildcats top Red Devils

ST. CLAIRSVILLE – The Edison softball team claimed an 8-6 win over St. Clairsville Thursday.

Cassady Jarvis did a bulk of the damage offensively, connecting for a home run, three singles and drove in three runs. Caitlin Brenstuhl had a single and a double with Kayli Stewart and Molly McCoy each adding a pair of singles. Lynsey Morrison and wining pitcher Mikayla Tice each had a double.

Edison (12-9) hosts Harrison Central today.

STEUBENVILLE – The Steubenville High School softball team lost 3-1 to Beaver Local Thursday at Franciscan University of Steubenville.

Casey Gentile had a double for Big Red with Tenia Barker, Mallory Giannamore and Christina Archer each adding a single. Anna Perrino pitched solid in a losing effort.

Big Reds defeat Redskins

BELLAIRE – The Indian Creek baseball team fell 9-1 to Bellaire Thursday.

Alex Young and Sean Smith each had a single and Zach Williams drove in the Redskins lone run.

Nick Patrone struck out 12 over his two-hit performance for the Big Reds and helped his cause with a home run and three RBIs.

Indian Creek travels to Weir today.

Edison shuts out Potters

RICHMOND – The Edison baseball team beat East Liverpool 10-0 in five innings Thursday.

Nolan Marcus picked up the win, striking out six over four innings and surrendering just a leadoff single. Marcus has given up no runs and two hits over his last two starts, covering 11 innings of work. Chance Wilkin had a home run, single and four RBIs to lead the Wildcats’ offense. Dylan Glasure had two singles, a double and an RBI, with Brian Straka adding three singles and an RBI and Marcus collecting two singles and two RBIs.

Edison (15-3) takes on St. Clairsville today.

Oak Glen tops Brooke

WELLSBURG – The Oak Glen baseball team topped Brooke 4-2 Thursday at the Brooke Athletic Complex.

Tyler Steed picked up the win for the Golden Bears with Bub Haddox throwing scoreless sixth and seventh innings in relief. Haddox had a double, two singles and two RBIs to lead the Oak Glen offensive attack.

Russell Scwertfeger had a single and a double for the Bruins with Heath Hildreth connecting for a triple and driving in a run. Austin Schambach had an RBI as well.

Brooke hosts Big Red for a make up game today.

TORONTO – The Toronto baseball team rolled to a 13-3 win over Bridgeport in six innings Thursday.

Tyler Owens struck out eight in the complete game performance and added three singles at the plate. Blaze Glenn and nate Stewart each had a pair of singles and Bill Solomon had a double.

Toronto is scheduled to travel to Indian Creek Monday.
