Locals playing in football game

GENEVA – Eight local high school graduates are playing in the 34th-annual Ohio-Penn Stateline Classic Football game Friday at Geneva College.

Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.

The players are: Big Red’s Tajuan Lawson and Luke McCourt, Indian Creek’s Montel McClelland and Shane Winland, Catholic Central’s Zach Herrington and Doug Maslowski, Edison’s Dylan Glasure and Toronto’s Joey Chadwick.

Boxing at The Harv

CHESTER – Mountaineer Casino Racetrack and Resort in association with eight-time World Champion Roy Jones Jr. & TNT Promotions presents live professional boxing at The Harv on July 13.

The scheduled bouts, which are subject to change, are: Wilkins Santiago vs. Gilbert Venegas, Morgan Fitch vs. Eli Augustama, Nick Firtha vs. Gabe Brown, Billy Hutchinson vs. Angel Rios and Joey Holt vs. Dustin Caplinger.

STEUBENVILLE – Steubenville Big Red football season tickets may now be prepaid for $36. Tickets will be available for pick-up in August. High school ticket office hours are from 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday through Thursday. Make checks out to SHS Athletics.

Camps at Weirton church

WEIRTON – Coach Mel Coleman will host his 29th-annual basketball camp from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 8-12 at the Mercy Baptist Church’s Bush Center.

It is open to girls and boys aged 6 to 18. It is the longest-running basketball camp in the Tri-State Area. All campers receive a T-shirt, lunch and lessons from qualified staff and instructors.

STEUBENVILLE – Basketball is behind held Monday through Wednesday beginning at 5:30 p.m. on the outdoor courts at the Martin Luther King Recreation Center.

Chiefs to hold signups

MINGO JUNCTION – The Indian Creek Chiefs youth football program is holding final player signups from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today in front of Hibbett Sports inside Fort Steuben Mall.

The cost is $65 and players must bring a copy of their birth certificate.
