Oak Glen’s Chambers wins cross country opener

ST. MARYS, W.Va. – Oak Glen senior Kelsey Chambers started the season on the right foot with a win in the Autumn Classic on Saturday.

She toured the 5K race in 21:58.5, almost one minute faster than the second-place finisher.

The Golden Bears were fourth overall in the team standings with 122 points, behind winner Williamstown (59), Ravenswood (79) and Doddridge County (107).

Rounding out the scoring for Oak Glen was Felicity Nolder (sixth, 23:41.1), Casey Baird (26th, 25:52.0), Alyson Snow (45th, 27:33.9) and Kimberly Smith (78th, 30:16.7).

Hayliegh Sutak (81st, 30:29.0) led Brooke, which finished 14th. Also placing for the Bruins were Cassidy Bland (90th, 21:32.2), Lauren Fritz (99th, 32:08.8), Caitlin Cuomo (130th, 39:11.5) and Jessica Postlethwait (133rd, 44:11.8).

In the boys competition, Oak Glen placed fifth with 167 points and Brooke was sixth at 194.

For the Bears, Tanner Gorby was 21st (20:13.5), Cody Tropek 30th (20:46.5), Zach Mynes 39th (21:08.1), Brock Smith 43rd (21:13.1) and Skylar Lamp 80th (22:46.5).

Junior Antonio Pizzuti finished ninth (19:43.0) to lead the Bruins. Michael Max was 48th (21:39.7), Anthony Barnhart 57th (21:48.1), Kyle Ryan 68th (22:24.8) and Jason Sprinkle Jr 77th (22:40.5).
