Big Red wins on road

CALCUTTA – The Big Red boys basketball team went on the road Friday night and picked up a win in Columbiana County.

Steubenville trailed early but rallied to defeat Beaver Local, 63-53. Brandon Herring-Hill led with 20 points, while Adam Sterling added 11.

Shakur Miller scored six points for Big Red (11-2). Travis Wolfe and Khaliq Bougard each drained a 3-pointer.

For Beaver Local, Jared Lyder led with 20 points.

NEW MANCHESTER – Vanessa Hissam scored 25 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in Oak Glen’s 64-43 win over East Liverpool on Friday. Alex Arnott added 14 points for the Golden Bears (10-4) and created five steals.

Jessica Stivason added six points with 13 rebounds, while Karly Wiley scored 10 points with a 3-pointer. Logan Andrews added seven points for Oak Glen.

Nickayla Edgell led East Liverpool with 14 points, while Lindsay Baker added 14.

The Golden Bears play at Steubenville Catholic Central on Monday.

Park races past Central

STEUBENVILLE – Kendra Bronson scored 16 points and Kamdera O’Neil added 13 for Wheeling Park as the Patriots beat Steubenville Catholic Central 52-21 on Friday night.

For Central (5-11) Gabby Capaldi scored five points, with a 3-pointer. Micca Mirabella and Hannah Ondos each scored four points.

The Crusaders host Oak Glen on Monday.
