3 Brooke swimmers headed to state meet

WELLSBURG – Three local swimmers have automatically qualified for the West Virginia State Swimming Championships next week at West Virginia University after their performances in the regional meet Saturday at Brooke High School.

The top three swimmers in each individual event and the top three relays teams in each relay event qualified for the state meet.

The field in the individual events will be filled with the next fastest 12 competitors, by time, from all the regions. For the relays, the next six fastest relay times from all regions will move on.

Brooke had the three automatic qualifiers as Emiley Czesztyicky won the 100 fly in 1:05.38, Jessie Wayne finished second in the 500 free in 5:41.71, Alex Wilson took third in the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.53.
