Tickets available for Pirates’ Opening Day game

The Pittsburgh Pirates will open the season against the Chicago Cubs at 1 p.m. on March 31 at PNC Park.

Tickets are available through the Herald-Star and The Weirton Daily Times.

“This game has been sold out for quite some time, and we are fortunate to have the availability to take two busloads of fans to the game,” said Cindy Kotsch, marketing and events coordinator for the newspapers. “We have a limited number of tickets still available for opening day. After the success of the Pirates last season, we expect the opener at PNC Park to be electric.”

“This is the first of three games we will be attending this year.”

Also on the docket are a June 28 game against the New York Mets for Steubenville/Weirton Community Day and Sept. 18 against the World Series champion Boston Red Sox.

“Those attending since the inception of the Steubenville/Weirton Community Night Fan Club six years ago have developed quite a camaraderie, and we always have a good time,” said Kotsch.

The $60 ticket for opening day includes bus transportation to and from the game. AVI Foodsystems will provide a snack bag and a beverage on the way to the game. First pitch is at 1:05 p.m.

The first 25,000 fans will also receive an Andrew McCutchen MVP bobblehead for the game against the Mets. The $70 ticket in the All-You-Can-Eat seats will include bus transportation.

The seats against the Red Sox are in Section 119 and cost $85 with bus transportation, as well.

“Call us to inquire about the triple-play discount,” said Kotsch.
