Central wins regional tune up

DOVER – The Central baseball team topped Dover 12-0 in five innings on Tuesday as a tune up for its Division IV regional semifinal game against Bainbridge Paint Valley on Thursday in Lancaster. The game will be played at Beavers Field.

Nick Ivkovich, Tony Barber and Mark Rest combined for a one-hit shutout. Dover’s lone hit was a double in the second inning.

The Crusaders (21-5) scored three runs in the first inning, one in the third and eight in the fourth.

Brenton Colabella led the offense with two singles. Chris Murphy, Johnny DiCarlantonio, Josh Merriman Aleks Porecca and Austin Oliver each had one hit.

The Tornadoes will face Big Red on Thursday in a Division II regional semifinal at Gant Memorial Stadium in Zanesville.
