Off to Wheeling Jesuit
Oak Glen graduate Josh Cornell, seated next to his mother Angela Jackson, will continue his academic and athletic careers at Wheeling Jesuit University, where he pursue a degree in physical therapy and be a member of the wrestling program. Cornell wrestled in four weight classes during his four years at Oak Glen – 103 pounds, 106, 120 and 126. He was an OVAC medalist three times and state medalist twice while compiling a 115-34 career record. Cornell also played football and baseball at Oak Glen and was a three-year representative on the OVAC Varsity Board. Academically, he posted a 3.56 GPA. Oak Glen wrestling coach Patrick McGillian said, “Josh was a pleasure to coach. He is a great leader and an extremely hard worker. He overcame a difficult ankle injury his senior year to place at both the OVAC and state levels which shows his dedication to wrestling and overall character. Josh will do very well at the next level both athletically and academically.” Also on hand for the signing were, from left, McGillian and Athletic Director Phil Rujak.
