Blue Dons take tri-match in Weirton

WEIRTON — Howie Peterson fired an even par 36 Tuesday at Williams Country Club as Madonna shot 165 to beat East Liverpool (194) and Oak Glen (235).

Hunter Payne and Tony Sellitti each shot 42 and Joey Ewusiak 45 for the Blue Dons.

Josh Cline shot 51, Jayson Chappell 52, Tyler Ridgeway 65 and Conner Blake 67 for the Golden Bears.

Alex Tambellini led the Potters with a 42.

Crusaders down

Redskins

UNIONPORT — Kevin Wells was the medalist with a 39 Tuesday at Red Oaks Golf Course as Catholic Central defeated Indian Creek, 184-196.

Lucca Connor shot 47, Zach Campbell 48 and Luke Rest 50 for the Crusaders.

Josh Speaker paced the Redskins with a 45. Jake Everhart shot 47, Scotty Martin 50 and John Paulman 54.

Huskies stop Wildcats

CADIZ — Clint Heavilin was the medalist for the second day in a row, this time with a 42 as Harrison Central beat Edison, 188-195, Tuesday at Cadiz Country Club.

Hunter Sloan shot 48, and Cruz Capers and Nick Coffland each shot 49 for the Huskies.

Jonah Moro led the Wildcats with a 46. Josh DeFrank shot 47, Andrew Pugh 49 and George Ash 53.

Big Red beats BL

RAYLAND — Paul Mastros grabbed medalist honors with a 39 at BecWood Golf Course Tuesday as Steubenville topped Buckeye Local, 175-185.

Keenan Seditz shot 44, and Michael Gray and Isaac Krause each shot 46 for Big Red.

Emily Holzopfel and Blake Ring-Fish each carded 44s for the Panthers. George Lollathin had a 48 and Austin Anderson 49.

Beaver Local tops Huskies

CALCUTTA — Beaver Local swept visiting Harrison Cental 25-9, 25-22, 25-15 Tuesday.

Shelbie Mitchell paced the Huskies (1-1) with 14 assists, six digs and four blocks. Emily Moore totaled eight kills, five digs and five blocks, Lyndsey Hennis nine digs and Katie Heavilin 19 digs.

Harrison Central visits Union Local Thursday.

Central sweeps St. John

BELLAIRE — Steubenville Catholic Central won its season opener 25-12, 25-14, 25-11 over host St. John Central Tuesday.

Chloe Pieniazek led the way with 18 points. Hannah Spiess contributed 15 points, seven kills and two blocks and Chrissy Fornsaglio 13 points, 11 kills, 12 assists and four blocks. Brittany Bertoia added 13 points and three kills and Bonnie Thibault 11 points and 10 assists.

Samm Simmons totaled six points, eight kills, two blocks and three assists and Grace Godich three kills and two blocks.

The Crusaders welcome Martins Ferry at 4 p.m. Thursday.

BOYS SOCCER

Bears defeat Seminoles

NEW MANCHESTER — Oak Glen is 2-0 after an 11-1 victory over visiting Monroe Central Tuesday.

Shane Theiss, Matt Wright and Gage Bailey all scored twice for the Golden Bears. Blake Perez, Seth Mozingo, Stephen Hawkingberry, Camden Barr and Andy Gonzalez added goals for Oak Glen.

Bailey and Lucca Harris totaled two assists apiece. James Crain, Kade Koper, Gonzalez and Seth Mozingo also added helpers.

Chance Provenzano had four saves in the first half. Freshmen Brandon Shearer and Chucky Varner split time in goal in the second half.

Grant Copely scored with an assist from Austin Smith for the Seminoles. Jerald Brooks made 16 saves.

Oak Glen heads to Magnolia at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Redskins win opener

CARROLLTON — Indian Creek edged host Carrollton, 3-2, Tuesday in its season opener.

George Shea led the offense with a pair of goals. Bryce Throckmorton also scored. Zack Neeley assisted on all three goals. Andrew Price finished with six saves.

The Redskins host East Liverpool Thursday.

¯ Also on Tuesday, Beaver Local beat Harrison Central, 8-0, in girls’ soccer.
