Blue Dons blank Ravenswood at Jimmy Carey Stadium

WEIRTON — The Madonna girls soccer team defeated Ravenswood, 5-0, Saturday afternoon at Jimmy Carey Stadium.

“It is important for us to get everyone involved in the scoring, with six people getting either goals or assists,” veteran Blue Dons head coach Bob Kolanko said. “It is hard to defend a team that can put that many people on the scoresheet.”

Madonna keeper Kasey Canei collected her sixth shutout, and fifth in the past six games.

“This defense is playing as well as I could have ever hoped,” Kolanko said.

Freshman Kali Krynicki open the scoring three minutes into the game off of a cross from Hayley Timko, who finished with two goals.

MaKayla Virden scored in the 21st minute off a Mandee Robinson assist, Robinson then assisted on the first of Timko’s goals in the 67th minute.

Timko scored five minutes later from Krynicki and Emma Burns scored from Gianna Antinone in the 76th minute.

Madonna welcomes Wheeling Central at 5 p.m. Monday at the J.C. Williams Soccer Complex.

Ravenswood’s goalkeeper, Kayla Liptrap, “made several outstanding saves to keep her team in the game as long as they did,” Kolanko said.

She finished with 12.
