Buckeye girls defeat Ferry
RAYLAND — The Buckeye Local girls basketball team earned a 41-38 win over visiting Martins Ferry.
Leading the Panthers was Emily Holzapfel and Danielle Dvorcek, who each scored 15 points. Maddie Gill added eight points. Buckeye Local plays again today, hosting Barnesville.

Park beats Brooke
WELLSBURG — The visiting Wheeling Park Patriots ran past Brooke, 68-38, at the Brooke Wellness Center.
For the Bruins, Justin Pennybacker led with 10 points while Chris Yachini added nine. Both players knocked down a 3-pointer.
Keondre King led all scorers with 21 points for Wheeling Park.
Brooke is back in action on Friday, hosting rival Weir.

Baron women fall at home
STEUBENVILLE — The Franciscan of University of Steubenville women’s basketball team fell 81-60 to Mount Aloysius College Wednesday.
Sarah Schriner put up 22 total points in 26 minutes, while Gaby DeJesus added 12 points. Both players recently returned from a semester away in Austria.
With the loss, Delaney’s team falls to 1-14, and 1-8 in AMCC action. The Barons hit the road for a conference tilt with Penn State- Behrend on Saturday before returning home on Jan. 25 to host La Roche at 6 p.m.
Baron men lose close one
STEUBENVILLE — The Franciscan University of Steubenville men’s basketball team lost to Mount Aloysius, 63-61. The Barons held a 33-28 lead at halftime.
Keoni Sablan scored 13 points to lead the Barons, while Josh York added eight points off the bench. All nine players that appeared in the game for the Barons registered points.
The Barons play again on Saturday at Penn State-Behrend.
