Central’s slide reaches 4

LISBON — Steubenville Catholic Central had four players in double figures, but dropped its fourth straight game, 69-60, Tuesday at Lisbon David Anderson.

Austin Fowkes led the way with 14 points. A.J. Connor added 13 and Jake Bolger and Donnie Vandeborne a dozen each.

The Crusaders welcome Big Red Friday night for the second half of the city championship.

Tigers defeat Bears

NEW MANCHESTER — Wellsville had it working early in a 78-58 win over Oak Glen on Tuesday night.

The Tigers (10-2) outscored the Golden Bears 26-14 in the first quarter and 19-10 in the second quarter to build a 21-point halftime advantage.

Jake Green led the way with 21 points for the winners. Justin Miller added 16 points, eight assists and five rebounds. Mike Shope had 12 points and seven rebounds. Garrett Scott scored 11 points, while Branzen Grodhaus had 10 points.

Ethan Travis led the Bears (6-4) with 11 points and seven rebounds. Shane Theiss also had seven boards. Logan Taylor chipped in five assist.

Oak Glen hosts Toronto on Friday. Wellsville entertains Southern on Friday.

Hawks clip Brooke

MORGANTOWN — The University girls’ basketball team outscored visiting Brooke 37-13 in the middle two quarters to cruise to a 67-37 victory Tuesday.

The Bruins, who have lost three in a row, welcome Indian Creek Thursday and visit Parkersburg South Saturday.

Freshman Ashley Arca led Brooke with 10 points. Chloe Fox and Chrissy Byers each added seven.
