Off to the Air Force Academy

Indian Creek senior Madison Smith, flanked by her parents, Bob Smith and Kim Mark, will continue her academic and athletic careers at the Air Force Academy, where she will also be a member of the women’s track and field program. Smith is a three-sport, four-year letterwinner for the Redskins in soccer, basketball and track. She was an All-Ohio performer a year ago in track as she anchored the 4×400 relay team to a seventh-place finish at the state meet at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Also on hand for the signing were, from left, back, Assistant Superintendent John Belt; Principal Lou Retton; Superintendent T.C. Chappelear; U.S. Rep. Bill Johnson, R-Marietta, who nominated Smith for the academy, assistant track coach Tina Wells, assistant track coach Joe Lewis, head track coach Dave Lucas and Athletic Director Joe Dunlevy.
