Crusaders pick up a win over Bellaire

STEUBENVILLE — Steubenville Catholic Central defeated Bellaire St. Johns in volleyball play Wednesday night at home, 3-0.

Alissa Burchfield had 14 kills. Grace Godich had nine kills. Karmen DiBiase had 11 assists. Bonnie Thibault had 11 assists.

Central is now 8-4 on the season.

The Crusaders were scheduled to be back in action against Madonna today, but that game has been moved to Oct. 4. Central’s next game is at home Monday against Toronto.

Brooke downs Big Red

WELLSBURG — The Brooke Bruins defeated Steubenville Big Red Wednesday night, 3-1.

Brooke took the first set 25-10, Steubenville came back to even things up with a 25-23 second set win, but the Bruins took the next two 25-16 and 25-17 to take the match.

For Brooke, Maria Camarados had five aces, 20 digs and 11 kills. Jenna Cooper had five aces, 18 digs, eight kills and seven blocks. Landyn Haynes had three aces, 29 digs, seven kills and a block. Grace Dodson had 20 digs, seven assists and three blocks. Chloe Fox had 21 digs, 12 assists, four kills and four blocks. Caitlyn Munger had 12 digs and 5 blocks.

For Big Red, Anna Taylor had three kills. Sidney Snyder had two blocks and six kills. Leah Ferguson had seven assists and three digs. Jaliyah Hubbard had five kills and six digs. Sammi Cucarese had eight digs.

Brooke is now 5-10 and is back in action today against Wheeling Park at home. Big Red also is back in action today, hosting East Liverpool.

Wildcats swept

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — St. Clairsville swept Edison 25-16, 25-22, 25-12 on Wednesday.

Allison Crawford had seven digs, six kills and one block for the Wildcats. McKenzie Morrison tallied eight digs, five kills and three blocks. Kayla Huff had 14 assists, five kills and two blocks. Kiersten Long added six digs and one kill.
