WORKSHOPS PLANNED: The Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce partners each year with the U.S. Small Business Administration, the Ohio Small Business Development Centers and the Kent State University Small Business Development Center to host a series of small business start-up workshops.

These hands-on, informational classes are held four times per year at the chamber offices and are led by certified SBA instructors. They are ideal for anyone investigating a new career as an entrepreneur, someone in the early stages of small business ownership or management or existing business owners who have specific issues they’d like to learn more about.

Issues such as accounting, taxes, marketing, business plan development and more are addressed at each two-hour class. The price is $30 per person for chamber member businesses and organizations and $40 for nonmembers and covers the cost of materials. Advance registration is required and payment is due prior to or day of class. The 2018-19 classes are scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday; 4 p.m. Feb. 6; 9 a.m. May 1; and 4 p.m. Aug. 7.
