AWARD WINNER: Teresa DiMeo, a nurse practitioner at the Ohio State University Hand and Upper Extremity Center and clinical assistant professor in the department of orthopedics, has received the Ohio Association of Advanced Practice Nurses Award for Excellence. This award goes to an advanced practice registered nurse who demonstrates excellence through professional development, clinical skill, innovative practice, academic excellence, political action or interdisciplinary interaction. She was honored for the knowledge, experience and dedication she brings to her patients and the students she mentors as well as her contributions to researching passion for ensuring the integrity and success of advanced practice nursing practice.

A resident of Columbus, she is the daughter of Sam and Gloria DiMeo and a graduate of Catholic Central High School and Ohio State Univesrity.

CEO TO VISIT WLU: Charles Bitzer, a Pittsburgh business leader, will be the guest speaker for West Liberty University’s fall executive seminar, to be held at noon Tuesday in College Hall.

Free and open to the public, the seminar offers an opportunity for business students to hear from successful business leaders. Bitzer is president and chief executive officer of ABARTA Inc. and chairman and CEO of ABARTA Coca-Cola Beverages. A third generation shareholder, he began his career in 1985 with Buffalo Coca-Cola Bottling Co., working his way up from the sales and marketing department.

In 2002, he became president of ABARTA Coca-Cola with responsibility for all four Coca-Cola franchise territories and in 2009 was promoted to chief operating officer of ABARTA, making him leader of all of its companies, including ABARTA Energy, before assuming his present position.

He serves on the boards of American Textile Co., Peacock Alley, the Sen. John Heinz History Center, the Fountainhead Foundation and the Coca-Cola Bottlers Association board of governors, of which he is vice president.

AT HARVEY GOODMAN: Kevin Mitchell has joined the staff of the Steubenville office of Harvey Goodman Realtor.

A resident of Wintersville, Mitchell decided to pursue a career as a Realtor so he could “make a difference in the community and help people find the home of their dreams.”

He brings 25-plus years of experience with multitasking, working closely with people and making things happen.

ELECTED CHAIR: Catherine Zavatsky Baumgardner of Lancaster, Pa., has been elected chair of the Ohio State University Alumni Association board of directors. She has been a member of the board of directors for the past four years, previously serving as treasurer. The chair term is for two years.

Baumgardner is a faculty member at Pennsylvania State University and the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and is president of Catherine Baumgardner and Associates Inc. She is a graduate of the former Wintersville High School, and is the daughter of George and Catherine Zavatsky of Bloomingdale.


Apollo Pro Cleaning and Restoration will be showing its “Attitude of Gratitude” this month as employees of the Wintersville-based company look to give back to others.

During the month of November, the company will be paying it forward by giving back to the community, said Anthony Mougianis, president and CEO.

Monday through Friday, employees will be placing hats, gloves and scarves in downtown Steubenville for anyone who is in need of them throughout the winter months, and on Thanksgiving Day, the company will donate a feast to the Friendship Room that will be open to everyone who would like a hot meal.

Already this month, employees from Apollo have visited the Jefferson County Humane Society and donated blankets, food, baskets, laundry detergent and other items. Employees also collected canned goods for the pantry at the Salvation Army in Steubenville.
