WEIRTON –Members of the labor and delivery team at Weirton Medical Center have been recognized for providing safe care to mothers and babies.

As part of the West Virginia Perinatal Partnership, the Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health recently presented Autumn Burnem, a registered nurse at WMC, with the honor for the hospital’s “commitment to maternal safety” for its successful participation in a national program that supports best practices in maternal safety.

Burnem also accepted the National Safe Sleep Hospital Certification as an official Safe Sleep hospital. Cribs for Kids has recognized Burnem and her team for demonstrating a commitment to best practices for infant safe sleep through the development and implementation of rigorous policy that includes health care team training and caregiver education.
