SkillsUSA winners advance to state

Jefferson County Joint Vocational School students will head to the state competition after earning top spots at the SkillsUSA Regional Spotlight on Skills on Feb 22. The students took part in activities at the Buckeye Career Center and included, from left, Alexis Eakle, a health technologies student who placed second in medical math; Catalina Mazzaferro, a cosmetology student who was third in the cosmetology category; Dustin Morgan, a health tech student who finished second in health assisting; Emily Bickerstaff, an auto collision technology student who placed third in automotive refinishing technology; and Nathaniel Granatir, a criminal justice student who was first in First Aid/CPR. Logan Hanchin, an electrical trades student who was third in electrical construction wiring; Gage Bennington, an electrical trades student who placed third in industrial motor control; Alli Helms, a cosmetology student who was second in Job Skill Demo A; and Cameron Grimes, a carpentry student who was took first place in the carpentry category, also advanced.
