Struck: A man said he was punched in the face by another man in the 300 block of South Fifth Street, Sunday. A third man who was present said the man had fallen on his porch and said he wanted him off his property. The original complainant complied, but after he was gone, the resident claimed he had taken his cell phone.
Missing: Someone took a wallet containing more than $300 from a truck parked on McDowell Avenue, Sunday. Victim believes he knows who is responsible, police said.
Cruel: Two dogs were left unattended, locked inside a house in the 500 block of North Fourth Street for several days after their owners moved out, Sunday.
Mishap: A man backing out of his driveway in Hamilton Place said he hit his neighbor’s lamppost, Sunday.
Cited: Roger L. Davis, 27,1349 Euclid Ave., driving under suspension and stop sign violation, Sunday.
Fireworks: Callers reported a large group of juveniles lighting fireworks near the intersection of Oregon and McDowell avenues in the LaBelle community, Sunday. The youths said they only lit one or two, and police told them to stop. Minutes later, a resident in the 1600 block of Oregon said a large group of juveniles threw fireworks on the porch and fled.
Reported: Callers reported hearing shots fired in the 800 block of North Sixth Street, Sunday. Police searched but found no supporting evidence.
Jefferson County sheriff
Injured: A 19-year-old having a BB gun war with a 39-year-old family member was accidentally shot, Saturday. Police were told his injuries were minor.
Downhill: A man who parked his car along state Route 213, Island Creek Towsnhip, told police he must not have put the vehicle in park because when he came back outside, it had rolled over a hill and struck a tree, Saturday. Damage to the tree was minimal, but the car suffered “incapacitating damage,” deputies said.
Boundary dispute: A woman living on township Road 371, Island Creek Township, told deputies her neighbors erected a fence on her property, Saturday. The woman told them she threatened to tear the fence down and after she parked her car next to it, the neighbors had the vehicle towed. The woman told deputies she didn’t need to pay a surveyor to mark the boundary because her late husband had told her where the line was.
Arrested: Jason Kinko, 34, 105 Findley St., Toronto, breaking and entering, assault charges pending, Sunday.
Hit: A 4-year-old was struck by a pedal cart operated by a young family member, Saturday. The child was transported by medical helicopter to an unidentified hospital. Family members later reported the child, initially thought to have sustained a substantial head injury, did not appear to have any substantial injuries though tests were ongoing.
Stolen: An Adena man reported about $1,000 was removed from his house, possibly during a cookout Saturday. The homeowner said as he spoke with family and friends who were there he’d mentioned seeing a man leaving the room where he’d kept the money. Not long after, he said he returned to his home in time to see the same man pulling away from his property and the rear window of his other vehicle broken. Neighbors reported seeing the other man breaking the window, deputies said.
Theft: A woman living on Two Ridge Road said she awakened to find her cellphone, a pack of cigarettes, pain medicine for her dogs and $50 in cash had been taken while she slept, Monday. She said her sliding door was open.
Missing: Loose change and two pairs of sunglasses were taken from a vehicle parked on Woodvue Lane, Cross Creek Township, Sunday.
Robbed: A Mount Pleasant family reported $525 had been taken from their home while they were at a ballgame, Sunday. The family had asked the boyfriend of a family member to let their dogs out while they were away from home.
Cited: Danny E. Davidson, 39, 1104 Midway St., Empire, operating a vehicle under the influence, OVI refusal, driving under suspension and failure to maintain reasonable control of a motor vehicle, Sunday. Deputies responded to the scene after callers reported seeing a man, unresponsive, in a vehicle. The man allegedly told deputies he had a prescription for medication and had taken extra because he was detailing a vehicle and felt pain.
