Steubenville police

Apprehended: Daniel Rayshawn Slater, 37, 730 North Seventh St., Steubenville, wanted by authorities on a felony warrant out of Cuyahoga County, was taken into custody Monday after police spotted him in a vehicle outside a downtown business. Police said Slater was wanted for felonious assault.

Intoxicated: A caller reported an intoxicated female Monday wearing green and blue pajama pants was wandering the vicinity of Oakmont Avenue and North Seventh Street, causing a disturbance. Police were unable to locate the woman.

Appearances deceive: A juvenile found a suspicious bag at the marina Monday, telling police he thought he saw the outline of a knife. Police checked the bag, a red pillowcase, and said it had several items, including bricks, but no knife.

Down: A man found lying in a field in the 1400 block of Oregon was taken to the hospital for evaluation Monday. The man passed out and was cold.

Charged: Ashley D. Bable, 34, St. Clair Ave., East Liverpool, was charged by police Monday with petit theft. Employees at Penney’s told police they watched the woman enter the store Monday with a large, empty purse and leave with it full, and when they checked the area where she’d been browsing they discovered several shoe boxes that were empty.

Police allege a sneaker was sticking out of the purse, and when they checked found two pairs of Nike shoes in the bag that store employees claimed they were able to match to the empty boxes.

The shoes were valued at $145, police said.

Bad driving: Vehicles parked at Walmart and TJMaxx lots were bumped by hit-and-run drivers Monday. Bumpers on both vehicles were damaged.

Served: Otis Allen, 43, McDowell Ave., Steubenville, was issued a summons for criminal trespass after a Sunset Boulevard business reported he’d returned after being told by police multiple times he was no longer welcome there.

Others issued summons were Anthony Blancato, 48, 905 N. Eighth St., Steubenville, failure to appear, and Tara Nuzum, 36, 1057 Overlook Drive, Wintersville, failure to appear.

Arrested: Tyler James Moody, 22, 719 Market St., Steubenville, assault;

Cited: Elizabeth Holly Marie Sheets, 41, 517 Dresden Ave., Steubenville, stop sign violation; Juanita J. Slappy, 21, 301 Center Ave., Mingo Junction, driving under suspension; Troy M. Wade, 31, 1526 Orchard St., Steubenville, DUS, stop sign violation and improper display of plates; Dwight J. L ytle J r., 55, 815 N. Sixth Ave., Apt. 906, loud exhaust; Patricia Frazier, 31, 3225 Sunset Blvd., Apt. 1, DUS; Madeline Robins, 21, 906 Banfield Ave., Toronto, turn signal violation; and Jessica Stewart, 32, 113 Sullivan Circle, Weirton, no operator’s license.

Disagreement: Deputies were called to referee a disagreement between an Amsterdam husband and wife Sunday after their son allegedly gave a neighbor’s kid a vape pen.

When she heard her husband yelling at her son the wife intervened, telling him she didn’t believe their son would do something like that even though the youth had already confessed to his father.

Hasty retreat: A caller wanted help getting a woman causing a disturbance in her home Monday to leave.

She told police the woman had accused her husband of cheating on her, but left before deputies arrived.

Arrested: Joshua Taylor Gamble, 36, 180 Township Road 1308, Dillonvale, was charged with domestic violence Monday after he allegedly threatened to assault a family member.

Arrested: Hank William Berry, 31, 84730 Snyder Road, Jewett, was charged Monday with operating a vehicle under the influence, felony possession of drugs and tampering with evidence.
