Shelf life

Auto body collision students are giving some old shelving new life in a special project with the Indian Creek Local School District. Shelving from the media center at Wintersville Elementary is getting a makeover for placement at Hills Elementary in Mingo Junction as part of that building’s $10 million renovation project with sanding, welding and paintwork. WES will be demolished following the construction of the new Indian Creek High School and Cross Creek Elementary, the latter of which will be located at the current school district office on Bantam Ridge Road in Wintersville. Russell Achhammer, auto body collision instructor at the JVS, said about half of the estimated 50 shelves have been completed for the project. With a few of the refinished shelves are, from left, juniors Vivian Dubravski, Bailey Fillman, Josh Riley and Cloa James, with Dubravski doing a little sanding work on one of the pieces.
