Incident: A Toronto man was taken into custody after he allegedly assaulted a junior high football player in the Edison locker room following a game on Oct. 18. Deputies said Chad Allen Marcino, 47, 6912 county Road 56, Toronto, is facing an assault charge after the youth told them Marcino had attacked him, banging his head off a wall. They said several coaches told them Marcino “had entered the locker room, approached (the player) by his chest, lifted (him) up off of his feet and bounced him off the locker several times.” The coaches said it took three adult males to separate him from the child, deputies said.
Bye bye: Deputies were asked to check on the well-being of a Toronto woman because her boyfriend “had been drinking since 5 a.m. that morning and she is concerned for (her friend) due to his behavior,” Monday. The Toronto woman told them her boyfriend of three months had shown her “a different side of (himself)” after he “consumed an entire bottle of vodka,” verbally abusing her, grabbing her by the arm and physically abusing one of her dogs. She told deputies she had to shove him to get him to let go of her arm, and said he only stays with her occasionally but since she was afraid of what he might do next, she was “adamant (he) leave her home and never return.” When deputies went inside to relay her desires to him deputies said the ex-boyfriend “appeared to be disheveled, (with) clothes and hair a mess and highly intoxicated.” He characterized the events as “just an argument,” repeating the phrase, “I do not want to go to jail, I didn’t do anything.” The ex-boyfriend was advised he had to leave the property, but he said his ride was an hour away. He offered to start walking, but deputies said they couldn’t allow it due to safety concerns. They ended up driving him to a hotel in Steubenville to await his ride.
Tool time: A Steubenville resident told deputies he got kicked in the sternum when he confronted a Bloomindale man who he said had told his parents he’d “stolen all (the Bloomingdale man’s) tools,” Monday. He claims he didn’t take the man’s tools and said his chest hurts and he wants to file charges. A reluctant witness told deputies it was “more a nudge with (the Bloomingdale man’s) foot” rather than a kick.
Reported: A caller reported hearing what sounded like between 30 and 40 gun shots coming from the State Lake Park area, Tuesday. Deputies said they remained in the area for an extended period of time but found nothing out of place nor did they hear gun shots.
Moving on: An Irondale man needed help contacting his wife who locked him out of the house after an argument, Oct. 17. He told deputies he left the house to avoid further confrontation, but when he went back she’d locked all the doors, and said he needed to make contact with her so he could get his belongings. He said all he needed was “a crate of clothing and a picture of him with his father, who passed away.” Deputies were able to contact his wife, who said she “needed a few days to calm down” but would put his belongings on the porch. They told her he had residency and was permitted to go into the home and was given information on how to obtain an eviction notice. The couple married in 2010.
Prowler check: A county resident asked deputies to check her property for prowlers, saying she “hears people outside or possibly inside her home,” Saturday. She told police she’d heard footsteps upstairs and said she saw a shadow and heard someone “trying to open her sliding glass door.” They checked the exterior of her home and found nothing amiss, then she insisted they do the same inside her home. Deputies checked all rooms, closets and under all beds without finding anyone. She said she has cameras inside her home, but a family member accesses the feed and he was on vacation somewhere with no cell phone service.” She was concerned a male who harbors romantic feelings toward her might be involved.
Keyed up: A Rayland man reported his vehicle stolen, Monday. He said he left the keys inside the vehicle overnight but didn’t see or hear anything. He said he doesn’t have cameras.
