Police reports

Steubenville Police

Grow up: An “active fight” between an adult male and his juvenile stepson was reported in the 100 block of North Sixth Street, Sunday. The older man fled on foot before police arrived, but police were able to speak to the victim and his mother, who decided to file domestic violence charges.

Had enough: A couple was causing a disturbance in the 2600 block of Hollywood Boulevard, Sunday. Police said the woman told them they’d been fighting since her boyfriend got home from work and had told her “he was done being in a relationship with her” due to the issues they’ve been having. He said he came home from work and “just wanted to relax … only to find that (she) was intoxicated and had not done any of the household chores, such as cleaning” and they’d argued because “he (was) tired of being the only one contributing to the relationship.” Both of them admitted they’d tussled over a cell phone and it broke, and she told police it wasn’t because he was trying to keep her from calling for help.

Happy endings: A Weirton man said a woman parked her car to closely to his in the Wal-Mart parking lot, and when she opened the door dinged his car, Sunday. He said the woman told him the wind caught the door and refused to give him her information, though he said she did tell him something to the effect of “too bad” before driving away. He got pictures of her car and license plate, and when police tracked her down she admitted she was involved. She said as she opened her door the wind took hold of the door and smacked it into the other vehicle before the other driver and his passenger “began yelling profanity at her.” She said she didn’t feel safe and decided to leave and told police she didn’t have any problem “paying for the damage or whatever needed done but could not while being yelled at.” Police said the other vehicle was left with a small dent as well as paint transfer. No one was injured, there was no other physical contact between them and neither of them wanted to pursue charges. The female did accept a ride to her ex-boyfriend’s house in Rayland.

Gun running: A caller reported “older” juveniles were arguing in the alley in the 1200 block of Arlington Avenue when one of them wearing a blue hoodie allegedly brandished a firearm, Sunday. No one was outside when police arrived at the location, but not long after an officer spotted an individual wearing a blue hoodie in the alley but reported he lost them when he cut through yards and between houses.

Not what it seemed: Someone reported seeing a suspicious male in the Trinity Medical Center East parking garage but it turned out to be a man whose car was overheating, Sunday. He told police friends brought him antifreeze and then turned around and left the garage quickly.

Cited: Deauni West, 21, 755 Kendall Ave., Steubenville, failure to control and no operator’s license after striking a power pole Sunday in the 1600 block of Oregon Avenue. Police said she told them she was turning into Oregon when her brakes went out and she hit the pole, which was not damaged. Also cited: Allison Poole, no age or address listed, blocking a driveway; Willium Jones, 19, 425 Franklin Ave., Steubenville, speeding.
