Politics: Callers requested assistance at the Irondale Village Complex because a woman was “verbally assaulting people at a meeting,” Thursday. No further information was available.

Rolling away: A driver escaped serious injury in Rayland when she forgot to put her car in drive on a on a steep incline, Thursday. Deputies said there’s a house at the bottom of the incline, so the driver said when the car started rolling backwards, she reached in and tried to grab the wheel. It turned, but she managed to get one foot inside but fell backward and the front tire rolled over her foot then continued down the driveway, hitting a tree before coming to rest against a garage. The car and garage sustained significant damage, but deputies said the woman’s foot was not broken.

Regrets: A county resident said she’d slept with a younger man and now he “wouldn’t leave her alone,” Thursday. She said he was drinking heavily and became agitated, yelling things across the room at her workplace that she didn’t really hear. Eventually he fell asleep but woke up “arguing and yelling.” After he was told to leave, he went into the parking lot he started doing doughnuts because she wouldn’t talk to him, and when she went to leave discovered he was still there. He wanted her to get in his vehicle, but she refused so he waited for her to leave the lot and pulled in behind her, then flew past.

Charged: Eli Dan Shelter, 24, 853 Jewett Road, Steubenville, operating a vehicle under the influence, Thursday. A deputy positioned at the Pottery Addition fire station reported seeing a truck allegedly operated by Shelter turn onto county Road 44 “so sharp it ran through a grassy area at the corner of the lot, causing the rear (of the truck) to go airborne and start bouncing on the roadway,” then accelerate quickly, “causing the tires to squeal and leave black marks.” Deputies reported Shelter’s eyes were glassy and bloodshot and his speech was slurred, but said he denied drinking alcohol.

Conflicted: A man housing sitting a family property in Mount Pleasant said a contractor told him he had some extra asphalt left over from a job and offered to lay it in the driveway, Thursday. The caller said he told the man he only had $5,000 in cash on him and the contractor agreed to accept it, but after he laid it down demanded $13,000 and became irate when the caller told him he only had the $5,000 they’d agreed to. He said the contractor threatened to return and tear the asphalt up. Deputies told the caller it was a civil issue, the contractor would have to be the one to initiate the proceedings and he should contact them if the contractor damaged the property.

Steubenville Police

Booked: A Pittsburgh man was taken into custody after he and two companions allegedly fled a traffic stop on foot, Friday. Police said an obstruction charge is pending against Kionte Clarke, 18, who they report was on probation from Allegheny County and wearing an ankle monitor. Clarke was found on the ground between two houses on South Fourth Street, breathing heavily, after the chase, they said. Police said they’d spotted a Toyota truck traveling southbound at a high rate of speed toward Washington Street and when they pulled behind it in the 400 block of South Fourth Street all three occupants “immediately exited the vehicle and began running.” Police said the three men in the truck were wearing dark clothing. Two other men were taken into custody and are facing charges, though no details are currently available.

Cited: Zacchery Benedict, 32, 3923 Stratford Blvd., Steubenville, failure to control and weaving after his car allegedly struck a porch in the 1300 block of Stratford Avenue, Friday. Kingston told police he was northbound on Kingston Avenue when he looked at his passenger and coasted off the left side of the road, traveling through the grass and coming to rest against the porch.

Recurring problem: A city resident told police her child’s father refused to give the child back to her, Sunday. She said the two of them have a verbal agreement allowing him to keep the child on Saturday and Sunday, but he’s been refusing to let her get the child on Sundays and isn’t taking her to school. She said the school has contacted her about the absences and is concerned they’ll bring children’s services into the picture. Police said the child’s father didn’t come to the door or answer his cell phone, and told the woman to have the school or CPS contact them due to it being an ongoing problem.

Kid stuff: A juvenile was seen walking on a guardrail at Pico Park, Sunday. Police didn’t see it themselves but spoke to a woman at the park with several children who were playing and told her if it was one of them that was walking on the guard rail it would be better if she didn’t let them do it again.

Theft: Someone stole two packages from a property in the 600 block of North Fourth Street, Sunday. The owner told police surveillance cameras caught the thief walking up to the porch around 4:30 a.m. and stealing the boxes.

No violation: The owner of a Sunset Boulevard property reported a trespasser, Sunday. The caller said the male was behind the building about three months ago and police had told him to leave. She was concerned because she saw him cutting through a parking lot. Police told the caller walking through a parking lot does not constitute trespassing.

Loud and proud: A disturbance reported on Third at South streets turned out to be two women in an argument, Sunday. A woman who was still there said it was strictly verbal and the other party involved had left on foot. A few minutes later she requested assistance retrieving items from the other woman’s residence, but the other woman wasn’t there and police told her they couldn’t enter the property.
