Steubenville Police
Bad aim: A disturbance was reported on Logan Street, Wednesday. A male involved said another man was at the property “yelling at his girlfriend,” and when he told him to leave the property the man “began (directing) racial slurs toward (him).” He said as he was leaving the same man followed him “and threw a brick at him (but) missed.” Several bystanders witnessed the incident and the victim told police he wants to pursue charges.
Overload: Police investigating an animal complaint in the 600 block of Broadway Boulevard said 16 dogs and a cat were removed from the residence by the Jefferson County Humane Society, Wednesday. The homeowner was advised the prosecutor’s office will be notified of their findings and charges possibly filed, police said.
Grumpy: A Johnson Road resident complained about “thudding sounds and was concerned that someone had fallen,” Wednesday. Police made contact with residents in a neighboring apartment “and observed an infant and a toddler (grandchildren) playing and jumpng around, making noise.” Police said when they told the complainant all appeared to be in order, that person advised “he was aware of the children and that the noise is a continuous problem.”
Park and lock: A caller reported seeing a man slumped over in the driver’s seat of a vehicle on Foster Place near Rosswell Avenue, Wednesday. Police said the man “woke up after several attempts” and told them he had fallen asleep while waiting for a friend. He was able to answer all questions asked of him, they said, and was advised not to drive the vehicle “as he was found to have a suspended driver’s license and the vehicle was several months expired.”
Closed doors: Employees at a city business complained that a man had been in the bathroom for more than an hour after they closed and believed he was possibly using drugs, Wednesday. He was gone when police arrived but employees told police they’d located burned tin foil in the trash can believed he’d gotten high before leaving. Police found him at another nearby business and advised he “denied being in the bathroom over an hour” or using drugs.

Jefferson County Sheriff
Seeking help: A deputy spotted two people who were acting strangely in a parking lot on Broadway Boulevard, Tuesday. He said when he approached them, the female “could not speak clearly (or) stand still.” She let him search her purse, where he reported finding a crack pipe. The woman told deputies she’d smoked cocaine a few minutes earlier “and needs help for her addiction.” She agreed to go to the hospital for assistance.
