Steubenville Police

Steamy: Police spotted a car parked “in the furthest corner of the east side parking lot” in the early morning hours at Belleview Pool, Wednesday. As they got closer, they said they noticed the windows were fogged over and when they got to the car discovered a male and female, “lying in the (back) seat, unclothed.” The two were advised to get dressed, after which police identified them and advised them they could be arrested for trespassing and disorderly conduct if they returned.

No where to go: Employees at downtown Speedway said a woman had been asked to leave the property several times but refused, Wednesday. The woman told police she “was trying to get warm.” She said she’d been staying at the shelter but exhausted her allotted days. She was told she would have to leave the property. She returned to the property two hours later and refused to leave when police told her she couldn’t be there. When she continued to balk at leaving, police say Julie A. Gillespie, 56, no fixed address, was booked into the county jail on charges of criminal trespass and resisting arrest.

Lucky break: Police said a vehicle “drove off a high wall” at Tri-State Plaza and its front-end was “hanging off the barrier wall,” Tuesday. They said the driver was “frightened and crying” and was rocking the vehicle back-and-forth, trying to free it. Police got her out of the vehicle and called a tow truck to pull it to safety. They said the vehicle could easily have flipped over into traffic.

Troubled: A woman who rented a car and failed to return it told employees “she had given the key to someone that she may know … and they stole the car,” Tuesday. Employees said the woman “has given different stories of what took place.” They said the car was due back Dec.12.

Splitting up: A man and his ex were arguing about property, Wednesday. The man said he’d lived at a Lincoln Avenue residence for the last five or six years but had moved and is now staying at the shelter. He said his ex has been texting him, stating that she had “put his living room furniture on her front porch and … will hold the rest of his personal property ‘hostage.'”

Dogged: A Kendall Avenue resident said he was tired of his neighbor’s dog doing its business in his yard, Wednesday He showed police videos of the dogs on the loose Jan 3 and again Jan. 8. The owner, Juana Rodriguez, 711 Kendall, was cited for dog-at-large.

Animal issues: A Buena Vista Boulevard resident was told neighbors were upset that her animals were loose, Wednesday. The owner said she would keep them tied up to prevent further issues.”

Booked: Leroy C. Saunders, 46, New Jersey, warrant for aggravated vehicular assault, operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs and violating a protection order, Wednesday. Police said they were called to a North Eighth Street residence because a woman and her boyfriend were causing a disturbance. Upon arrival, police said they could hear the two of them “arguing very loudly from outside” and said once inside they “followed the yelling to the kitchen area” where the couple was engaged in a “heated argument.” As they took Saunders into custody, police said his girlfriend “became very angry and began to yell at (them).” They said they were unable to speak with her about the argument the two of them had because she “only wanted to berate officers.”

Shenanigans: Callers reported kids throwing snowballs at houses, Tuesday. Police said the kids “denied throwing at anything other than one another,” so they took them home and advised their mother of the complaint.

Served: Shawn M. Oxley, 42, no fixed address, Steubenville, warrant for two counts of possessing drugs, Wednesday.

Booked: Keneisha Hill, 33, 1310 Oregon Ave., Steubenville, burglary, Tuesday.

Code issues: Notices of violation were sent to the owner/occupant of properties at 1333 Arlington Ave., litter and other items piled in the driver, garage and front porch; 1625 Ridge Ave., a headboard and other indoor items being stored on front porch; 1510 Maryland Ave, two piles of junk and garbage in back yard; 1520 Maryland Ave., couch in back yard; 1312 and 1316 Arlington Ave., scrap metal, junk car parked, junk cars, boxes and other items in the back yard of 1312 Arlington and in the adjoining lot (1316 Arlington).
