Cited: Kaylie Pritts, 36, Bellaire, speeding; Angeline Cole, 44, 107 Maple Ave., Wintersville, no operator’s license; Thomas Zook, 60, 305 Springdale Ave., Wintersville, and Mohamud Abdullahij, 40, Minneapolis, both for failure to control.
Charged: Lillian Anshutz, 53, 108 Frazier Ave., assault, Monday.
Steubenville Police
Traffic backed up: A driver was cited after a three-vehicle accident that snarled traffic on state Route 7 near University Boulevard around 8 a.m. Thursday. Police said Christopher L. Atkinson, 27, of Cleveland was charged with an assured clear distance ahead violation after his semi struck another semi stopped at the intersection, pushing it into a third vehicle, a passenger car, that also had been stopped in traffic. All three vehicles were in the southbound passing lane, police said. No injuries were reported.
Angry drunk: A man who’d over-indulged in holiday cheer was causing problems at the mid-town Speedway, Thursday. Employees said the intoxicated man had caused “a disturbance and refused to leave” after “attempting to purchase more alcohol and cigarettes.” They said he “started a verbal confrontation” when he couldn’t purchase the cigarettes, then after they opted to refuse to sell him any more alcohol “due to his intoxication” he “became irate and attempted to snatch the alcohol before threatening to beat up everyone in the store.” He left before police arrived.
Too much to drink: A driver who allegedly passed out in a fast-food drive-through lane ended up sleeping it off at the Jefferson County jail, Friday. Police said the driver, Daniel Beckman 25, of Littleton, Colo., was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, drugs or both and then booked into jail on an eight-hour intoxication hold. When they asked him to exit the vehicle, police reported seeing an open container on the passenger side of the vehicle and claim he told them he had been drinking. Another container, this one a White Claw, also was located but had not been opened, they said.
Repeater: Joshua Fayak, 43 214 Ravine St., Steubenville, served with two warrants for misdemeanor theft at Lowes, then charged with a third theft at Harbor Freight as well as possession of drug paraphernalia, Thursday. Police said Lowes employees reported seeing Fayak in the store and followed him to Harbor Freight, where police recovered two switch covers and an electrical outlet allegedly stolen from Lowes as well as a router bit from Harbor Freight. They said Fayak was unable to produce receipts for the merchandise and claimed he’d purchased the router bit a month ago “and he was going to return it.” Police also reported finding a crack pipe in the Honda HRV Fayak was driving, though he told them he “was unaware of the item and if it was in the car it was old.”
Shadow dancing: A woman making a home health call in the 300 block of McKee Street reported seeing a man “damaging a car,” Thursday. She said the individual was “outside the house and was punching the driver’s door window.” She told police she took a picture before he “started to approach her so she left the area.” Police said the male was wearing a gray hoodie with the hood pulled up with what appeared to be a backpack underneath it.” He was nowhere to be found when police arrived and the homeowner advised “he did not know (him) and he did (see) any damage to the vehicle.”
Deal with it: Police were called to a property in the 400 block of South Fourth Street, but a woman at that location said her daughter “was causing a disturbance (but) she was handling the situation,” Thursday. She said she didn’t need help from police.
Ripped off: A Market Street resident said he discovered his Social Security payment had been stolen, Thursday. He said $800 was removed from his account and transferred to a CashApp account between Monday and Wednesday.
Red faced: A man in the 100 block of North Fourth Street reported a disturbance, Wednesday. When they got to his home the man told police he was “arguing with another resident over what he thought was a missing cell phone” but he had since found it in his apartment and the matter was now resolved.
Commotion reported: A caller complained of “loud music and a live band playing” at a residence in the 2700 block of Cleveland Avenue, Wednesday. Police said they checked the area several times and didn’t hear any commotion, nor did they see anyone out and about.
Too loud: A resident in the 1200 block of Maryland Avenue said someone had their radio playing too loud, Wednesday. Police said they checked the area “for any kind of music playing in the area” without success.
Cited: Jeanelle M. Tice, 34, 109 Wilma Ave. Steubenville, dog at large.

Frightened: A Mingo Junction woman reported being threatened by her boyfriend’s ex, Wednesday.
Family matters: A Sinclair Avenue resident said she’d been assaulted by a man upset that she was at his father’s home, Thursday. She said he “struck her in the forehead and choked her” because her things were in the house even though she had permission to be there.
Served: Stephen Ray Hoppin, 506 Public Road, Yorkville, three warrants out of Belmont County, Thursday. Hoppin was transported to the county line where Belmont County sheriff’s deputies took custody.
