Harrison Regional Chamber of Commerce continues to grow

CADIZ — The Harrison Regional Chamber of Commerce continues to grow and is making plans for a productive year in 2019.

Janeen Scott, president of the chamber, said the board members and officers have a vision that includes growth for the chamber this year and an effort to become a place for all businesses, organizations and individuals to turn to for information and growth.

“We have accomplished a lot this past year, and we are working on new events for 2019,” Scott said. “We are really looking forward to a great year. One of our most important goals was to develop our website. I’m proud to say that it is up and running for anyone who needs information for events. We are welcoming suggestions for anything as well.”

Scott said the chamber held several grand openings for businesses in 2018 as well as a few business after hours events to show support for new businesses and to allow members to network with one another. In September, the chamber worked with the Cadiz Lions Club, Sally Buffalo Park Board, Cadiz Volunteer Fire Department, Harrison County Historical Society and Cadiz Business Association to hold the fourth-annual Sally Buffalo Days events. The Chamber Winter Dance was held at Cadiz Country Club as well, and an award was given to Capital Health Care Network for the Ed Coultrap Business of the Year. The speaker at the dance was Harrison County Commissioner Don Bethel.

Scott said another goal the chamber accomplished in the past year was to increase its membership. Various types of businesses are new members, including Sunnydale Farms, Kiko Realtors and Associates, Kilgore Evangelical Church, Boy Scouts of America, Cadiz Country Club, Harrison County Board of Commissioners and many more.

“The benefit of becoming a member of the chamber is, for one, you get to attend all of the great events,” Scott said.

“You also get to network and find out more about what is going on in the county. The chamber is continuing to grow, and our goal is set even higher for 2019. The more involved the businesses become, the more productive we can be in assisting their needs.”

The deadline to become a member for 2019 is Thursday. For information, visit harcocommerce.com, or call (740) 827-3809.
