Ascent Resources helps supply students

ADENA — Buckeye Local’s West Elementary School held its Back-To-School Night where students and family members located their classroom, met their teacher and learned the building’s theme this school year, which is “We’re On the Same Team.”

In that spirit, local natural gas producer, Ascent Resources, teamed up with Principal James Rocchi to provide school supplies for each of the 240 students in the building from kindergarten to sixth grade. The colorful bags were distributed to each student as they walked into the building just before the welcome assembly.

“I want to thank Ascent Resources for their generosity toward our students and families. The supplies needed for school can add up and create a financial burden on many of our families. This gesture truly helped our families. I heard many positive comments throughout the evening about Ascent’s donations. It is refreshing to see a major business in our area give back to the communities they are working in. We look forward to partnering with them in the future on more endeavors,” Rocchi said.

The book bag contained this school year’s supplies including notebooks, glue sticks, crayons, folders, pencils among other items.

“I truly enjoyed this event,” said Amanda Finn, director of government relations for Ascent. “Our goal with our annual Pack the Book Bag program was to make sure folks in Adena, and elsewhere, know that we are on the same team and we are here to help and do our part to support those in the communities in our operating area.”

“Our sincere thanks to the team at Ascent Resources for continuing to step up each and every year with this creative program,” said Mike Chadsey, director of public relations for the Ohio Oil and Gas Association. “It was great to see so many smiling faces, at least on the parents, as students head back to school in person this year, and we hope these stuffed back bags help just a bit.”
