Several local students get Holtz scholarships

EAST LIVERPOOL — Several area high school graduates have been chosen to receive life improvement scholarships to trade schools from the Lou Holtz Charitable Foundation.

Recipients include:

* Rosedale Technical College: Shawn Younciak, Brooke High School, $10,000 scholarship, diesel technology; and Garrett Dozier, Toronto High School, $10,000, automotive technician.

* Western Area VoTech: Hannah Baker, Brooke High School, $3,000 scholarship, cosmetology.

* Ohio Valley College of Technology: Sabine Hardy, Wellsville High School, $10,000 scholarship, business management; Kristen Young, Edison High School, $10,000, medical assisting; Kayla Wiley, East Liverpool High School, $10,000 scholarship, business administration; and Alyse Lovett, East Liverpool High School, $10,000, medical assisting.

* Pittsburgh Technical College: Braydon DeMaria, Brooke High School, $10,000 scholarship, electrician technology; Jacob Raveaux, Brooke High School, $10,000, electronics technology engineering; and Margaret Goob, Midland PA Cyber, $10,000 scholarship, computer science.

* New Castle School of Trades: Garrett Wright, Oak Glen High School, $10,000 scholarship, diesel technology; Liam Cronin, Brooke High School, $10,000, electrical and industrial maintenance; Caleb Leasure, Toronto High School, $10,000 scholarship, electrical and industrial maintenance; Dalton Morris, Wellsville High School, $10,000 scholarship, electrical and industrial maintenance; and Shawn Underwood, East Liverpool High School, $10,000 electrician.

Younciak, Dozier, Hardy, Young, Wiley, Lovett, DeMaria, Raveaux, Goob, Morris and Underwood will receive matching scholarships from their schools.
