Donnie’s Towing & Tires now in a bigger location

Linda Harris NOW OPEN — Donnie’s Towing & Tires is now open at 246 N. Third St., Steubenville, and offers a wide range of automotive services. Owner Donnie Merritt says his new space gives him space to do more things and more vehicles. Helping to make the business run smoothly are, from left, Jmoe Brown, tow truck helper; Merritt; and Chuck Burch, office manager.

STEUBENVILLE — From the moment Donnie Merritt first opened for business two years ago, he was biding his time until the space in Steubenville he’d always coveted would be ready to go.

Two months ago it was finally ready and Merritt moved his shop, Donnie’s Towing & Tires LLC, into its new space at 246 N. Third St.

“I’d always wanted to be in Steubenville,” said Merritt, who had operated out of a smaller space in Mingo Junction for two years. “It’s a bigger location, way bigger.”

His new shop is located next to the old DiNovo property on North Third. He actually occupies the property from which Joe Leonard had operated his auto brokerage “forever,” he said.

Merritt and his team can do alignments, roadside assistance (including lockouts, battery jumps and tire repairs), 24-hour towing, full auto repairs, oil changes, brakes and rotors, tuneups, ball joints, wheel bearings, all front-end work, engine and transmission changes and tire repairs.

They sell new and used tires and work on diesel and gasoline engines.

Merritt said he also buys unwanted cars and trucks, including damaged, wrecked, junked, unwanted, antique and broken-down vehicles.

“The bigger location means more bays,” he said. “There’s more opportunities to grow my business with the larger location, and I want to be able to give back to the community.”

Merritt, a Steubenville resident, said he has seven employees. His general manager is Mike Berdine of Wintersville.

Donnie’s Towing & Tires is on Google and Facebook, he said. For information or to book an appointment, call (740) 598-8038.
