CADIZ — WVU Medicine Harrison Community Hospital has been awarded a grant through BHE GT&S, an interstate natural gas transmission and storage company, for rapid response buttons, which provide an immediate and direct link to law enforcement and security personnel during high-risk incidents.

“We at WVU Medicine Harrison Community Hospital are grateful to BHE GT&S for awarding us a grant to purchase the rapid response buttons,” David Phillips, president and CEO said. “Our commitment to proactive safety measures underscores our dedication to the well-being of our patients and staff, prioritizing prevention over reaction. We remain steadfast in our mission to create a secure and supportive environment for all. By harnessing technology and providing comprehensive training, we are equipping our health care facility with the tools needed to respond effectively to emergencies and elevate the safety standards of our institution.”

The buttons provide an extra layer of security that can be easily accessed when needed, enabling staff members to respond effectively to critical incidents.

“We commend WVU Medicine Harrison Community Hospital for their work to strengthen workplace safety,” said Jason Harshbarger, state policy director for BHE GT&S. “At BHE GT&S, we share in this commitment to our employees and believe in supporting our neighbors as they provide a vital service to our community.”
