Sutphin to join team at OhioSE
AMANDA SUTPHIN
LOGAN — Amanda Sutphin has been named regional talent coordinator by Ohio Southeast Economic Development.
Sutphin is an experienced public service professional who has served the Corporation of Ohio Appalachian Development and Washington County Department of Job and Family Services for 21 years. During her time at COAD, she served in roles helping families find quality childcare and helped increase the number of childcare options in Southeast Ohio by working with those interested in becoming licensed childcare providers.
Sutphin became invested in the issue of not having enough childcare openings in Ohio to serve individuals who were looking to return to the workforce and have quality childcare.
Most recently, Sutphin served as the workforce administrator for Area 15 Ohio Means Jobs and the program operator for the comprehensive one-stop in Washington County, where she prioritized incumbent worker training for regional businesses. Through her efforts, Area 15 was able to lead the state in WIOA funding used for business training and upskilling. She was part of the WIOA youth, adult and dislocated programs that provide training and support services for Ohio’s workforce.
A native of Washington County, Sutphin is dedicated to increasing opportunities for Southeast Ohioans.
“Working for Ohio Means Jobs led me to have a passion for workforce development and community engagement and made me want to create more sustainable opportunities for business and individuals alike,” she said. “I’m looking forward to being part of a team that will support Ohio’s businesses to grow, bring more business into Ohio, and build a strong workforce. I’ve lived in Washington County for the last 30-plus years, I’ve raised my family here and I want to make sure that my children have a strong community with many opportunities to raise their families here.”
As the demand for skilled talent continues to increase throughout the region, the talent coordinator position will enable OhioSE to provide additional talent advising and project assistance to our existing businesses. Sutphin will work with Kara Willis, OhioSE’s regional talent manager, and collaborate with OhioSE project managers and local workforce partners to provide talent solutions for regional clients.
“OhioSE is excited to welcome Amanda,” said Willis. “Her knowledge and experience working in the workforce ecosystem will bring an element of expertise to our team, and help our clients access and utilize local and regional resources to their fullest extent.”
