Theme parks looking to fill 3,000 positions
Contributed HIRING — Kennywood, Idlewild and Sandcastle are looking to hire more than 3,000 team members for the coming season.
PITTSBURGH — Kennywood, Idlewild Park and SoakZone and Sandcastle are now accepting applications to fill more than 3,000 positions for the upcoming season. The parks are gearing up for their most exciting year yet, highlighted by the debut of the all-new Potato Patch-themed bumper cars at Kennywood. To kick off its hiring efforts, the properties will be hosting multiple job fairs in March and April.
“Our team members are the park’s greatest asset,” said Kennywood Assistant General Manager Rick Spicuzza. “We continue to take pride in providing a positive employment experience with flexibility and fun while also offering our employees hands-on training and a competitive wage.”
Kennywood, Idlewild and Sandcastle offer their employees competitive wages with pay starting at up to $15 an hour, growth opportunities and flexible schedules. All team members also receive great perks, including free admission to the parks, discounts on food and retail, free tickets for family and friends, scholarship programs and access to exclusive team member events.
Job opportunities available for the season include ride operators, food and beverage team members, lifeguards, retail team members and more. No experience is required, and all applicants must be 14 years of age or older. Online applications are available now for Kennywood, Idlewild and Sandcastle.
The parks will also host a variety of in-person hiring events ahead of opening day. Those who attend will have the opportunity to learn more about positions, meet park teams and take part in open interviews. Kennywood and Sandcastle will host dual job fairs on March 9 and April 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Kennywood. Idlewild and SoakZone will host three job fairs on March 9, April 6 and April 13 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
While hiring is well underway, park teams are busy getting ready for the season, which is shaping up to be the most exciting yet, featuring:
• Kennywood Park, serving up one-of-a-kind experiences with the debut of the all-new Potato Patch-themed bumper cars and a full season of events including Bites and Pints, Celebrate America, Phantom Fall Fest, Holiday Lights and more;
• Sandcastle is better, brighter and fresher than ever and splashing into its 35th season in 2024. With stunning park enhancements, the pulse-pounding Bombs Away, Dragon’s Den and Boardwalk Blasters plus several family-favorite waterslides and attractions set along a picturesque boardwalk, Pittsburgh’s Hometown Water Park’s brings the shore right next door; and
• Idlewild and SoakZone will kick off the season with more family fun than ever before. With dazzling park upgrades and improvements, beloved events like Kids Fest and HALLOWBOO!, more than 35 rides, SoakZone water park and exclusive Daniel Tiger experiences, the park gets better this year.
