Halo Salon & Spa still has more room to grow

Warren Scott A GROWING BUSINESS — Wintersville Mayor Mike Petrella, Jefferson County Commissioner Eric Timmons and other local officials welcomed Halo Salon & Spa to its new, larger location in the Welday Professional Center with a ribbon cutting. Joining them and owner Amanda Chmielorski for a ribbon cutting were her husband, J.J.: children, Sierra and Mason; and other family members.

WINTERSVILLE — The owner of Halo Salon & Spa has seen the business grow from a location with two chairs in 2007 to its present 6,900-square-foot location at the rear of the Welday Professional Building at 100 Welday St.

Amanda Chmielorski was joined by local officials and many family members and friends in celebrating the opening of the new location, which extends stations for its hairstylists and nail and makeup technicians from 12 to 19 while adding several rooms.

Chmielorski said the expanded space enables her to add additional services at the salon, which currently include lip, brow, chin and full-face waxing; manicures and pedicures.

“We’re hoping to offer facials, Botox injections and spray tanning soon,” she said.

Halo’s hairstylists offer their skills to women, men and children and are trained in coloring, bleaching and toning, ombre and balayage, foils, braids and extensions, among other techniques.

The salon is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, with appointments encouraged by calling (740) 264-2580. Chmielorski said evening hours are offered for customers’ convenience and are the most frequently booked.

A 2004 graduate of Steubenville High School and 2007 graduate of the Century School of Cosmetology, she said she started cutting and styling hair at a young age.

“Even in high school, I had girls come to my house and have me do their hair,” said Chmielorski, who added she’s always enjoyed interacting with people.

“What we’ve found is if you just treat people the way you want to be treated, you can create a very successful business and working environment,” she said.

Assisted by her husband, J.J., who handles bookkeeping, inventory and other aspects of the business, Chmielorski heads a staff of 24. She said J.J., her father-in-law, John; her father, Anthony Steiner; and friend Doug Leonard worked together to paint and prepare the new space over several months.
