Free hotel rooms available to hospital patients’ families

WEIRTON — ‘Tis the season for spreading holiday cheer, and this year the Holiday Inn Weirton-Steubenville is doing just that.

The hotel at 350 Three Springs Drive is offering complimentary guest rooms to the families of those hospitalized on Tuesday and Wednesday.

“No one should have to be alone for Christmas, and for those who can’t make it home for the holidays, we’ll help bring their homes to them,” said Brad Degenkolb, director of sales of the local Holiday Inn.

Area hospitals are thankful for the opportunity to serve their patients and their families.

“Trinity Health System is pleased and once again filled with gratitude for this incredible gift that is offered to families of our patients each year during the holidays. Taking a little bit of stress out of a holiday hospitalization is a true act of human kindness,” said Laurie Labishak, market director of marketing communications.

Families of patients at Trinity Health System and Weirton Medical Center are invited to spend Christmas Eve and Christmas night — free of charge — at the hotel. Families can stay for one or two nights.

“We want to thank the Holiday Inn for its generosity, especially this time of the year. It’s never easy when a loved one is in the hospital, but this is one very positive way to make things a bit brighter,” added Kelli McCoy, director of communications at WMC.

“The holidays can be a very stressful time, especially when someone you love is ill,” said Brandy Wenner, general manager of the Holiday Inn Weirton-Steubenville Area. “We hope that being close by will alleviate much of that stress and enable our guests to more fully enjoy the holiday.”

Families who are eligible and would like to reserve a room can call (304) 723-5522 or e-mail brad@HolidayInnWeirton.com. Rooms are based on availability.
