BLACKMOOR

Blackmoor Ladies League members played an “Even and Odd” event July 17.

The winner of the event was Cheryl Black, who also had a chip-in on hole No. 15.

Lori Defallo took the “Odd Event.” Linda Caputo had closest to the pin on the second shot on hole No. 15 along with a chip-in and birdie.

Claudia Norris took the long drive on hole No. 18. Yuko Atwell had a chip-in along with a birdie on hole No. 15. Signa Findlay had low putts of the evening.

Eleanor Kindsvatter won the mystery game.

CADIZ COUNTRY CLUB

WOMEN’S GOLF ASSOCIATION

The Cadiz Country Club Women’s Golf Association held a guest day mini scramble on July 19, featuring varied skill hole challenges. Chairman Brenda Hartley welcomed the players, sending them out on designated holes.

During lunch, Hartley awarded the following prizes: On hole No. 4, closest to the pin on second shot for guests was Pam DiDomenico, followed by Carol Lepic, and for members it was Kathy Smith followed by Bonnie Beetham. Longest drive on hole No. 7 for guests was Dawn Milleson just ahead of Pam DiDomenico, and for members, winners were Nep Rowland followed by Glenda Sensel.

A rope was stretched up hole No. 18 to test accuracy. Winners closest to the rope were guests Judy Crawshaw and Kim Criss, and members, Brenda Hartley and Bonnie Beetham.

The team with the lowest score was comprised of Nep Rowland, Kim Criss and Pam DeDomenico. Next lowest was the team of Kathy Smith and Carol Lepic. Tying for third was the team of Brenda Hartley, Anne Oaklander, Liz Mann and Judy Crawshaw and the team of Peg Buchanan, Kathy Newburn and Ginny Ferrell.

Elizabeth Mann won the drawing for a basket of local wines and snacks. Sleeves of golf balls were given to many guests.

The hostess for Wednesday’s play will be Kathy Smith. Tee time is 9 a.m.

DYER COUNTRY CLUB — HOLE IN ONE

Kathy Sapp recorded a hole in one at Dyer Country Club on July 13 on hole No. 5, par 3.

She used a 9 iron.

The ace was witnessed by Eric Fisher, Sarah Louda, Shirley Clegg and Julie Ohaleck

JULY 6

Mountaineer’s Woodview Women’s 18-Hole Golf League played the first round for the West Virginia Pin Tournament. The winner is the player with the lowest net score after 36 holes.

Shooting the lowest net round was Debbie Provenzano with a net score of 67. Following closely behind was Dotty Virtue with a net score of 68. Day two of this tournament was set for July 7 when the winner would be announced, and the pin will be presented.

The golf league members also played their set format of one low gross, two low nets, proximity prizes on all Par 3’s, longest putt made on hole No. 14 and lowest number of putts for the round.

Low gross winner for the round was Mishal Hawthorne with an 80. Taking first low net was Debbie Provenzano with a score of 67, and winning second low net was Dotty Virtue with a 68.

Closest to the pin winners on Par 3’s were: Hole No. 6, Mary Ann Bainbridge; hole No. 8, Provenzano; hole No. 14, no one; and hole No. 17, Priscilla Mavrich. Sinking the longest putt on hole No. 4 was Elaine Minda, and the winner of low putts for the round went to Virtue with 28.

JULY 7

Mountaineer’s Woodview Women’s 18-Hole Golf League played the second round for the West Virginia Pin Tournament with the winner of the West Virginia Pin being the player with the lowest net score after 36 holes.

Shooting the lowest net round was Debbie Provenzano with a repeat net score of 67, giving her a total score of 134. Placing second was Dotty Virtue with a repeat net score of 68 and a total net score of 136.

The golf league members also played their set format of one low gross, two low nets, proximity prizes on all Par 3’s, longest putt made on hole No. 14 and lowest number of putts for the round.

Low gross winner for the round was Mary Ann Bainbridge with an 84. Taking first low net was Debbie Provenzano with a 67, and second low net was won by Dotty Virtue with a 68.

Closest to the pin winners on Par 3’s were: Hole No. 6, Erin Ankrum; hole No. 8, Patty Filak; hole No. 14, Virtue; and hole No. 17, Priscilla Mavrich. Sinking the longest putt on hole No. 14 was Theresa Stotler, and winning lowest putts for the round was Provenzano with 24.

An eagle on hole No. 9 was recorded by Bainbridge with Ankrum having a birdie on hole No. 7.

JUNE 22

Mountaineer’s Woodview Women’s 18-Hole Golf League played their set format of one low gross, two low nets, proximity prizes on all Par 3’s, longest putt made on hole No. 14 and lowest number of putts for the round.

Low gross winner for the round was Mishal Hawthorne with an 84. Taking first low net was Erin Ankrum with a score of 66, and winning second low net was Mary Ann Bainbridge with a 68.

Closest to the pin winners on Par 3’s were: Hole Nos. 6, 8 and 14, Bainbridge, and hole No. 17, Hawthorne. Sinking the longest putt on hole No. 4 was Marilyn Kenny. There was a tie for lowest putts (29) of the round between Ankrum and Elaine Minda. The only birdie for the round was made on hole No. 14 by Minda.

JUNE 29

Low gross winner for the round was Mishal Hawthorne with an 80. Taking first low net was Mary Ann Bainbridge with a 65, and winner of the second low net was Elaine Minda with a 67.

Closest to the pin winners on Par 3’s were: Hole No. 6, Priscilla Mavrich; hole No. 8, Hawthorne; hole No. 14, Minda; and hole No. 17, Theresa Stotler. Sinking the longest putt on hole No. 14 was Janet Stukins, and winning lowest putts was Hawthorne with 28.

Birdies recorded for the round went to Hawthorne on hole Nos. 8, 15 and 18; Marilyn Kenny on hole No. 14; and Cathy Ralston and Elaine Minda on hole No. 15. Chip-ins were made by Kenny on hole Nos. 1 and 14; Hawthorne on hole No. 1; and Minda on hole No. 15.

STEUBENVILLE COUNTRY CLUB

WOMEN’S GOLF ASSOCIATION

A pink and blue tournament was the weekly game for the Steubenville Country Club Women’s Golf Association on July 19 with Shelle Pentes and Theresa Metcalf as hostesses. Golfers dressed in the color appropriate for their team, and one best ball of three was used to determine the winners.

Taking the win with a score of 61 was the team of YangJa Koh, Paula Hope and Theresa Metcalf. Marilyn Kenny recorded a birdie on the 12th hole and also won low putts. There were no chip-ins, so the money cup carries over for another week.

In the nine-hole golf group, Charlene Freshwater won low gross and putts for the pink team, and Dotty Tegano took low net for the blue team.

This week’s event will be a special tournament to benefit the Cancer Dietary Initiative, a food pantry for local cancer patients.

Each golfer will contribute an entry fee to participate. Following play an awards luncheon will be held in the clubhouse. Dianna Adams, Kenny and Metcalf are in charge of the event.

Golfers will report Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. for a 9 a.m. start.
