Pierpont Community and Technical College student Austin James Tingler of Weirton has been awarded an academic scholarship from Southwestern Energy. The son of Linda and Bryan Tingler received an award of $2,000 for the 2017-18 year of study in the petroleum technology program. He is a 2012 graduate of Weir High School and a Tau Kappa Epsilon member. Upon graduation, he looks forward to using his education and hands-on experiences at Pierpont to excel in the oil and gas industry. “As an older student, the scholarship I received from Southwestern Energy allows me to attend class full time while paying my other expenses. The financial assistance they provided will help me finish my degree on time and positively impact my career in the oil and gas industry,” Tingler said. Southwestern Energy Scholarships are awarded to Pierpont students on a competitive basis of academic performance, classroom leadership, and employment potential in the oil and gas profession. On hand for the presentation were, from left, Southwestern Energy Community Relations Manager Amy Dobkin, Pierpont Interim Dean of the School of Workforce Denny Mills, Southwestern Production Field Manager Ricky Winberry, Tingler, Southwestern Energy Area Manager Chris Flanagan and Southwestern Energy HR Business Partner Greg Osbourne.
