Support for picnic

-- Contributed

Hancock County Savings Bank recently presented a donation toward the Weirton Steel 25-Year Club’s 72nd-annual picnic which will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Serbian Picnic Grounds on Kings Creek Road, Weirton. On hand for the presentation were, from left, committee members Ernie Nichols Jr., Perry Duckworth and club Vice President Brenda Ice; Hancock Saving President/CEO Cathy Ferrari; Weirton Steel 25-Year Club President Ron Baker; and committee member Dan Kelly. The picnic will reunite current and former steelworkers “to talk about their time in the mill and to see how everyone’s families are doing today,” a spokesperson said. “It is a tradition that traces its history to some of the earliest days of Weirton Steel Corp. All past employees of National Steel, Weirton Steel, ISG or Arcelor Mittal who have 25 years’ combined service to any or all of the companies listed are welcome,” the spokesperson added. Lunch will be served after a brief business meeting and installation of officers at 11:30 a.m. For information, contact Baker at (304) 748-2795 or Ice at (304) 748-2852.
