CADIZ WOMEN’S GOLF LEAGUE

The Cadiz Women’s Golf League played a “Ts and Fs” game on Aug. 15 where scores were counted only on holes starting with the letters T and F, and subtracting half a player’s handicap.

Glenda Sensel and Pat Beamer, hostesses for the day, announced winners as: Tied for first place, Jan Schultz and Janis Cook; tied for second place, Joyce Berdine, Jane Galigher and Judy Crawshaw; and Bonnie Beetham, third.

Low putts were achieved by Janis Cook with 28 and Bonnie Beetham with 30.

Birdies were made by Jane Galigher on hole No. 1, Kathy Smith on hole No. 9 and Joyce Berdine on hole No.10. Bonnie Beetham had a chip-in on hole No. 16.

The hostess for Wednesday play will be Kathy Smith. Tee time will be at 9 a.m.

SPRING HILLS

Spring Hills Ladies played “T’s and F’s” in the weekly game Thursday evening.

STEUBENVILLE COUNTRY CLUB

WOMEN’S GOLF ASSOCIATION

The Steubenville Country Club Women’s Golf Association played the first round of its club championship on Aug. 15. The tournament features 36 holes of stroke play and is being directed by golf professional John Denholm.

The final 18 holes will be played Wednesday with assigned tee times. Following the tournament a champagne luncheon will be held in the clubhouse to celebrate the winners.

In the Aug. 15 event, Kim Criss recorded a birdie on the par 3 second hole, and Paula Hope birdied the par 4 5th hole. The money cup, which had carried over for four Wednesdays, was shared by Hope, who chipped in on the hole No. 8 and YangJa Koh who had a chip-in on the 15th hole.

Paula Hope updated the golfers on plans for the chili open, a four-woman golf scramble to be held on Sept. 5 at the Steubenville Country Club. The $60 fee includes 18 holes of golf and a luncheon following the tournament. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. with coffee and pastries being served, and play will commence at 10 a.m. The entry deadline is Aug. 29, and entry fees can be mailed to Marilyn Kenny, 1539 co. Road 56, Toronto, OH 43964.

TOWN AND COUNTRY

Town and Country Golf played “Best Poker Hand” on Aug. 9. Winners were Wanda Retzer in A flight with five of a kind and low gross; Lattee Chinakarn in B flight with six of a kind; and C flight, a tie between Sondra Hyde and Margie Serafini with three of a kind.

Low putts (15) were recorded by Retzer and Betty Jose.
