Ethan Deemer and Alyssa Jezierski, members of the Brooke Middle School Students Promoting Love, Awareness, Social Skills and Happiness, or S.P.L.A.S.H. Club for short, participated in their own Olympics, with a water balloon toss and other games. Established at Follansbee Middle School two years ago, the club enables students with special needs to participate in activities with other students, which strengthens their social skills and a better understanding of those with special needs, said Allisha Fuscardo, the club’s adviser. With many former S.P.L.A.S.H. Club members now at Brooke High School, Fuscardo is working to establish a club there, too.
