Participate in chess challenge
The Fellowship of the Pawns Youth Chess Club participated in the 2018 Future Champions Chess Challenge held Nov. 10 in Pittsburgh. Jack Blake and Caleb Bier, both first-time tournament players, played in the advanced beginners section. Blake went undefeated and took home a first-place trophy. Bier won two out of four games and took home the top unrated player trophy for that division. Phillip Rawson competed in the intermediate section with all four of his games being against higher rated players. While he did not win a trophy, he did win two out of four games. The club meets from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at First Westminster Presbyterian Church in Steubenville. All youth interested in learning and/or playing chess are welcome to attend.
