Community Unity Breakfast

Saturday at Calvary church

STEUBENVILLE — Calvary Community Missionary Baptist Church, located at 255 S. Seventh St., will host a Community Unity Breakfast on Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m.

The keynote speaker will be the Rev. ReLoy Gainey, pastor of Quinn Memorial A.M.E. Church in Steubenville.

The cost of the breakfast, featuring “faith, food and fellowship,” is a $7 donation. Host pastor the Rev. Calvin McLoyd will preside with other community leaders participating.

Weirton Senior Center hosting

several December events

WEIRTON — The Greater Weirton Senior Center at 3425 Main St. has announced a number of events planned for December.

They include:

Thursday: There will be a dance with live music by Sands of Time. Free refreshments will be provided. Doors open at 5 p.m., and the band plays from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Friday: There will be bingo with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. Early bird is played at 6 p.m., and regular bingo starts at 6:30 p.m. There will be concessions.

Dec. 15: The annual Christmas dinner-dance will be held with live entertainment by Light Touch. The doors open at 5 p.m., and dinner will be served at 6 p.m. The band plays from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. There will be door prizes, a 50/50 drawing and drawings for baskets. The menu will include ham, potatoes, green beans, salad, rolls and a dessert table. Tickets are $12 per person.

Free Christmas party planned

Sunday at Brentwood UMC

WINTERSVILLE — A free Christmas party featuring carols, crafts and cookie decorating will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday at Brentwood United Methodist Church, located at 148 Stephens St.

Jewett VFD to host fundraiser baked lasagna dinner Sunday

JEWETT — The Jewett Volunteer Fire Department will host a homemade baked lasagna dinner fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday.

The meal includes salad, bread, dessert and beverage. The dinner cost is $10 for adults and $6 for children.

Computer help available

at Follansbee branch library

FOLLANSBEE — The Follansbee Branch of the Brooke County Public Library will be offering computer help with resumes and online job applications from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Help will be provided by library employee Joyce McAlpine.

Fundraiser Dec. 16 to

benefit child with cancer

FREEPORT — A fundraiser to benefit 5-year-old Stetson Patterson will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 16 at the Freeport Fire House, 119 E. Main St., Freeport, in Harrison County.

Patterson has been diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer and will be having chemotherapy to shrink the tumor and have it removed, according to information provided. All proceeds will be used toward Patterson’s treatment.

The fundraiser will involve a baked chicken and rigatoni dinner with the menu also including cheesy potatoes, green beans, salad, rolls, dessert and drink. The cost is a love offering. There also will be a 50/50 drawing, a Chinese auction and other drawings. A live auction begins at 3 p.m. There will be activities available for children.

Four Seasons Seniors plan

Christmas party Dec. 19

WEIRTON — The Four Seasons Senior Citizens held their November meeting at Undo’s with Presient Chris Sklenar presiding. Tony LaRosa gave the opening and closing prayers.

After dinner, members were entertained with songs by Shari Jo and Dave Watkins.

Committee reports were read.

Birthdays and anniversaries were acknowledged.

Lois Dick won the gift certificate.

The 50/50 was won by Janet Stasiulewicz and Barb Libengood. Other prize winners were Janet Orler, Bev DiBiase, Regina Truax and Tom Maxwell.

The next meeting will be the Christmas party on Dec. 19.
