The bulk of today’s community page features photos from a longtime tradition, the Boy Scouts of America Two Chiefs District’s Pinewood Derby, which was held last weekend at the Fort Steuben Mall in Steubenville.

The photos feature the winners — the final victors of Saturday racing with Jack Lawson of Pack 39 in New Cumberland taking first-place honors in the event. Last year, Lawson finished second.

Congratulations to him and all the winners among the 135 Cub Scouts who participated, including nine girls. This year’s event was a first for girls to participate, according to longtime event chair Joe Kovaleski.

The festivities also included Family Pinewood Derby races on Friday evening in two classes — hot rod and stocks.

The Two Chiefs District encompasses Brooke and Hancock counties in West Virginia and Jefferson and Harrison counties in Ohio.
